Summertime Style: Dresses

What do you like to wear in the summertime to stay cool? Shorts? Skirts? We love both of those! But nothing beats a summer dress. They are great for casual days and dressier events. And chances are, you'll have all sorts of fun events to go to this summer! Weddings, dinners and vacations! You'll want to look your best. There are some great sun dresses out there for summer 2013. Let's take a look!

Just last week, Elle compiled a list of their favorite summer dresses. We love what they choose! Kate Spade is one of our favorite designers. We loved this Kate Spade Saturday shape shifter dress that they picked. We love the simple back and white line design. It's simple but adds some whimsy. And the cutouts on the side are very popular in dresses this year! We think this dress would work perfectly for more formal events. And the basic print allows for plenty of freedom in the accessories department!

Looking to add more color to your summer wardrobe? How about this printed floral dress from the Gap? How fun! We love the loud, blue, yellow and white print! It's simple circle skirt and short sleeved style top is pretty standard among summer dresses. It's going to be something easy to slip on quickly and head out the door. We recommend accessorizing with a small brown or black  braided belt to add to emphasis on your waist. Add pair with a pair of brown sandals for a  laid back, casual look.

This dress is so beautiful! It's a gorgeous printed maxi dress by Diane von Furstenburg. We love the vibrant pink background color and abstract white design. If this doesn't scream summer, we don't know what does! Going somewhere tropical this summer? Wouldn't this be the perfect thing to pack along to wear to dinner? Wear your hair back in a messy updo, wear a pair of wedges or dressier sandals and you have one great look.

Those were just a few of our favorites. Feel free to browse the list and see what your top 3 dresses are! Share them with us on our Twitter of Facebook! We want to know what you think!

Summer lovin: Swimwear!

Summer is right around the corner! Well, for most of us... Our apologies for those out there who still have snow in April. Yuck! Well, chances are you're going to need a new swimsuit sooner or later! Today we're talking bathing suits!

Glamour just did a piece talking about the most flattering bathing suits for your body type. We thought they had some great ideas and we wanted to share some of our favorites.

We love this two piece suit by Ann Taylor Loft. The giraffe print is just too adorable! And the shape offers an alternative the string bikini. We think it would be fun to pair the top of this suit with cherry red bottoms. Buying a print bikini and several solid colored tops or bottoms is a great way to switch up your bathing suit style.

This two piece from bare necessities is too cool! They suggest this style if you are a little more "bootylicious" than others. The cleavage you'll sport along with this style will draw the eyes up. This print is loud, fun and crazy! We think printed suits are the way to go for summer 2013.

She wore an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini... and so can you! We love this bikini from Forever 21. How cute! And you can't beat that price. No one is going to have trouble finding you on the beach. If you want to sport a classic style and stand out, this is the bathing suit for you!

We gotta give some love to one pieces too! This one found on shopbop.com is so fun. We really love the classic color scheme. It's a basic bathing suit a little dressed up! And the stripes definitely give this suit some form nautical feel. We love it!

No matter what style you choose, remember that your body is beautiful no matter what size or shape! Show off as much or as little as you like. But most of all, remember to have lots and lots of summer fun!

Simple Spring and Summer Beauty

As we transition into warmer temperatures, our beauty habits and trends change as well. For summer, we're thinking lighter, natural makeup. And we want our hair up and out the way. We want to be able to spend all day outside without having constant makeup and hair touch ups. Do you crave this fun, carefree look as much as we do? Don't you worry. We have a few tips for simple, summertime beauty.

We have been watching a recent beauty trend become extremely popular: BB creams. This product was only sold in East and Southeast Asia until a few years ago. Basically, it an all in one face product. It moisturizes, primes and covers your imperfections. And, most formulas contain SPF. Which is great for summertime. It's a quick way to get great, lightweight coverage and protection for the sun's harmful rays. Overall, it's supposed to improve the quality of your skin.

There is a lot of selection out there; from high end to drugstore. Elle just shared their top picks. Some of our favorites made the list! For high end, we love the Origins BB Cream with white tea. It's a great, all-natural formula. And it supposed to help prevent aging which is important when you're spending long days out in the sun.

If you are looking for a great drugstore alternative, Loreal's Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream also has a great formula. It "primes, perfects, hydrates and protects". And we can say, it does all four things! It's a really great product. Just set with some powder and you're ready to walk out the door!

Well, not quite yet! What are you going to do with that hair? We have a few ideas! Glamour shared their favorite spring up-dos. We love this tousled top knot that Jennifer Lawrence is sporting. It so simple to do! Check out this quick and simple tutorial that we found on sheknows.com. We will definitely be sporting this fun easy hairstyle all through spring and summer.

See? Carefree summer makeup and hair isn't too hard! It's easy! Why do you think they call in carefree? What do you think? Tweet us your thoughts and tips on simple summer beauty tricks and tips!

Jeepers Creepers! Protect your Peepers!

What's your favorite thing to wear in warm weather? Tank tops? Bathing suits? Sandals? We love all of those! But our favorite spring and summer accessory has to be sunglasses! They keep your peepers safe and come in so many shapes and colors. Today we are focusing on sunglasses!

We ran across several articles on sunglasses this weekend. Tis the season! Elle shared 45 sunglasses to update your look. We have to agree. Sometimes the perfect pair of sunglasses can complete change your look. Are you ready for a change this summer?

These Kate Spade glasses made our top 5. We love the big lenses. They are so fun and over sized. And the Tiffany blue color is great for both spring and summer. Or how about these two toned round sunglasses from Nasty Gal. They are definitely in our price range and quite unique! The gold and neon pink color combination is also something we suspect will be very popular this summer.

And of course, you can never go wrong with a classic, neutral pair of shades. We love these Jimmy Choo Cat-Eye Glasses. They remind us of Audrey Hepburn! They will easily transition from season to season... that is if you manage not to sit on them! Let's admit it! It happens to the best of us.

Vogue is also talking sunglasses. They had some really fun choices! We loved these Persol glasses from the Sunglasses Hut. The hardware on this pair is really unique as well as the shape. We might need a pair! These glasses from J.Crew are also fabulous! We love the retro, 50's feel they bring.

Don't you deserve a new pair of sunglasses? Your spring and summer shopping is never complete without a new pair...or two... or three!

Summer dreaming

Happy Friday, peeps! We're weekend ready! The weather's great and we're already dreaming about summer. Our outfit of the week takes some inspiration from that!
It's the Halter Mini Dress: a shorter version of the Halter Dress! We really love halter neckline for summer. And the scooped neckline looks great too! You'll really be able to show off your tan!

It's definitely a dress that's sure to help you flaunt your stuff! The slim fit looks great on the body. And it is a mini so the length is super short! Warning: this dress will focus all the eyes in the room on you!

And the simplicity of the dress allows for lots of accessories! Take a look at what we have to offer in the ways of gloves and stockings. TheLatexStore.com mini halter dress is a must for your latex collection :)

Have a wonderful weekend, folks!

April showers bring May flowers

You've heard it said before. April showers bring May flowers. And it's true! Spring means rainy days a plenty for most of us. But before you go splashing around in puddles, you'll want to make sure you have the right gear. Looking like a drowned rat is not in this season! So lets talk rainy day fashions.

A good raincoat is key. It's going to provide protection from the rain and save your cute outfit underneath! And there are tons of styles and colors out there. Elle recently posted on their favorite rainy day fashion.

One of favorites was this parka style coat by Michael Kors. If it's still chilly where you live, this style will really suite you. It protects you from both the rain and cold. And the blue is a great bright color, perfect for spring! It also has an almost military style feel that's really popular this season. It's a great basic jacket you can wear over and over again.

A trench coat is also a great option for rainy days. We love the classic old Hollywood feel they have. You'll feel like you're in Singing in the Rain! This one by Rhyme Los Angeles is great spin on the classic trench. We love the slouchy, comfortable look it has. We think it will work great for warmer days when a thicker, longer coat isn't needed.

We have covered jackets, now onto boots! You don't want to get your feet wet. We love the boots Elle choose. Our favorites were the Hunter original short gloss boots. This company is a classic. And their boots come in a variety of both  vibrant and neutral colors. We recommend wisteria for spring! It's a beautiful lilac purple that will really pop against those dreary rainy days.

We haven't forgotten the umbrella. For days that promise heavy rainfall, you won't want to be without one! Bubble umbrellas are very popular.
They provide even more protection from the rain. We adore the two that Elle shared! But, if you need to get one quickly, we've seen them at Target with different colored trim and handles.

We hope we have convinced you that rainy days are too bad. In fact, they can be fun and colorful! Rain, rain don't go away! We want you to stay and play!

Our take on the LBD

Good morning! What a nice, restful weekend we have had! And the weather? Beautiful, as promised. We're rested and ready to tackle the week! How about you? Either way, we're going to get your Monday started right!

You know how must we love basics. Today we are discussing the little black dress. It's an essential part of any woman's closet. Nothing is more timeless or classic as a black dress. It can be paired with countless shoes and accessories. And  there are many different directions you can take; edgy, feminine or classic.

Elle magazine shared their 50 must have little black dresses. That's a lot! We're going to highlight a few of our favorites.

We loved this "polished" black Halston Heritage Pleated Cap Sleeve Dress. We think it has a rather girlish, fun charm. We could easily see this paired with a pearl necklace.

A black dress does not need to be plain or boring if you don't want it to be! Check out this "embellished" 3.1 Phillip Lim All Eyes on You Embroidered Dress. This beautiful, simple shift dress is transformed by all the embellishments. It's certainly a dress that will be a one of a kind.

And we couldn't talk about little black dresses without throwing in one of our own! The Latex Store little black dress is a favorite. It's short and slim fitting dress that is meant to draw attention! But, most of our dresses are available in black. It all depends on your own style!

Spring drugstore makeup!

Let's face it. Drugstore makeup is incredibly addicting! Who really can resist it? It's affordable and the brand are releasing some really great products. You can't go wrong! But it can be difficult to decide what to buy with all that selection. Well, we've done a bit of research and buying ourselves. Here's our spring guide to drugstore makeup!

It's finally time to switch from dark, vampy lip colors to vibrant pinks! We're pretty excited to make the transition. But before you pucker and up apply, it's important to give those lips some hydration! Cosmopolitan just shared their favorite cheap yet chic makeup products. The first thing on their list was the new Nivea kiss lip balm. These are excellent! The come in several flavors like caramel and raspberry. And for 4 dollars each? That's a drugstore steal!

Now onto color! Elle also shared their favorite drugstore makeup. They mentioned L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Balm. We love this lip color! There is a wide variety of colors to choose from. And the formula is wonderful. They are so creamy and have excellent color pay off. They certainly won't dry our your lips in the summer sun.

Bright colors aren't just for you lips! They are for your eyes too! NYX has some beautiful, bright shadows. Cosmo focused some of their neon colors. We think these colors are really going to make your eyes pop this spring and summer!

And we can't forget about bronzer and blush. We all want to look tan and shimmery when it's warm outside. We love the Physician Formula's shimmer stick custom highlighter and blush. Aren't those colors just beautiful? And how perfect would this be for traveling? There's no need to bring multiple blushes, highlighters and bronzers. You have it all here it one convenient palette!

We want to hear from you! What drugstore products are you loving right now? What should we try next?

No funny business here! Just prints and plenty of them!!

Happy April Fool's day! Now, don't you worry. There aren't any tricks here today! We're just bringing you a bit of spring fashion advice. Today we're talking prints!

Prints always seem to trend during the spring and early summer. But it seems they are especially trendy this year. And we are loving them too!

Just this weekend, we were looking at an article on Glamour. They were focusing on printed skirts and what looks best with your body type. Our favorites were this zig-zag skirt from Anne Klein. Oh and this more affordable pencil style skirt from Old Navy looks fun!

We recommend pairing a sheer blouse up top or even a solid colored t-shirt for a more casual look. Tuck the shirt in and add a skinny brown belt to emphasis your waistline. Either way, we think adding in some printed skirts into your everyday spring wardrobe will add some whimsy!

Cosmopolitan also shared some of their favorite printed clothing. We told you prints are in! Spring often presents some fun, semi formal events for all all to attend; bridal and baby showers and garden parties galore! We think this dress featured in the article from Piperlime would be perfect to wear! And tribal prints transition wonderfully into summertime.

Or maybe you already have the perfect outfit. Well, don't forget about accessories! Cosmo says printed scarves we one of the main features on the Dolce and Gabbana spring runway. Here's a fun tip! Hit up your local thrift or vintage shop for some fun patterned scarves of your own. Wear them as a headband, tie them around a ponytail or wear them around you neck. Scarves are just for the winter and fall!
